DRAW

Note : Games played up to 28th October will count to GA. Two handicaps will be used, one for each course due to ratings.

To add a little extra SPICE to the weekend. On top of the battle to win the Trevor Nolan Memorial Trophy we are adding a Matchplay component to the Saturday and Sunday games. This will be for the Presidents Men and Captains Crew Shield. Teams and opponents will be selected by a live draft on Friday by the President and Captain.

Scoring will remain the same, stableford. Scores will be added up at the end of each round to find the winners. This is a side match within the important Trevor Nolan Memorial trophy. Ben and Beau will explain in further detail Saturday Morning as to how it will work. Rest assured the boffins have been working hard with AI and their IBM’s to make sure there will be no cross over and playing with someone both Saturday and Sunday.

MONDAY (South Course)

Draw based on the order of the progressive scores.

Competition changed to Stableford in 2003 # Denotes favourite, so, favourites have been successful only 10 of the 38 years betting has applied and, since betting changed to a tote system in 2004, punters have only got it right in 2005, 2006, 2014, 2019, 2022 ANZAC 2022 proper and 2025.

THESE ODDS MEAN NOTHING!!!!!

Now for the fun bit. Who’s looking good for the trip away? Who’s going to be the final champion? Below will in NO WAY help you decide. Remember, always gamble responsibly. Unless it’s on the pokies then go full tilt.

THE GUIDE

WEATHER : FINE TOTE OPERATOR : TRACK : FAST

1. Tony Spagnuolo 17 4/1

Has won 2 of the past 3 years. Has to be up there again. Seems to have hit the sweet spot juggling night life and day golf.

2 Roy Crea 40 10/1

Roy Boy, always a threat. Dismiss at your own peril. Always good to share a story while downing a dark Tooheys Old.

3. Daniel Jacobi 18 100/1

More interested in the Races on Saturday than the golf. Nope

4. Nick Powell 7 100/1

Made last group in 2025. Fluke. Hell will freeze over if that happens again. Nah.

5. Ben Grinsted 9 4/1

Another month off before TOC to hone his skills. New stats entered into the book, just ask him. Has the look of someone who wants it again. Big chance.

6. Alex Wratten 10 15/1

Surprised me and himself by making the last group in 2025. Can he go better this year? Playing away from home is becoming easier. Chance.

7. Luke Jones 4 12/1

Not much has changed, still will be there abouts. Watch out for flies or shadows. They can ruin a good round.

8. Adam Jacobi 20 30/1

Off a long spell away from the game due to injury. We all hope he gets through the weekend ok. Playing no golf may actually help, we’ll see.

9. Callum Grant 5 30/1

Mid pack at best. Can be dynamic at times but also erratic. Hurts my back watching him wing so hard.

10 Rob Cann 5 25/1

Off the tee good. The rest no good. If he has a couple days where it all clicks could be a threat. Played with him last week. Needs to improve in a hurry.

11. Beau Eddington 5 8/1

Goes hard on and off the course. Always seems to be in the mix. New Prez can he win the weekend? Chance

12. Ian Spackman 6 100/1

Sits in the same zone as Dan, myself and Alex Henly. Anything other than bottom 8 is an anomaly. Always has a great time though.

13. Bruce Laing 17 15/1

It’s that time of year again. Time for Bruces lollies and snacks. Always a crowd favorite. Good for a laugh. Can put a good round in here and there. Not the worst.

14. Alex Henley 2 50/1

Has struggled in the past. There isn’t a lot to suggest this changes. Nothing online about swing changes or improvements.

15. Kerry Nolan 38 20/1

One of the seasoned veterans of Can Club. Driving the hell out of the ball. If he can keep it up for three rounds, a top 4 spot wouldn’t surprise.

16. Barry Mitchell 21 40/1

Holing 40ft clutch putts? Maybe he’s coming into his prime. One or two Piccolos a day keeps him going for the weekend. Could he surprise?

17. Dylan Rose 2 40/1

Good to have him back in the trip mix. Our Merch king will be trying his best to finish higher than previous years.

18. Ron Drost 0 20/1

False start last year. Pulled out days before due to a back injury. Plenty of rumors as to how it happened. This is not the space to talk about it. Hopefully he makes it this time around and will go well on the weekend.

19. Peter “Baz” Basdeo 1 6/1

Current Club Champ. Winning on the 18th hole. Has to be a chance. Made final group last year. Was leading, then went into the bushes and disappeared for a few holes. 2nd trip so has a better understanding of how the trip works. Big watch

20. Ian Leithhead 4 12/1

If the driver behaves itself he has to be a chance. If Ian doesn’t behave himself he is no chance. A true 50/50 depending on how his body holds up.

21. Geoff Purcell. 1 15/1

Nearly won on his 1st trip, astounding the golf world. Does he have 3 good rounds in him? Some would suggest no, they’d be the smart ones.

22. Tom Nolan 2 20/1

Had a year off. Is he back with a vengeance? Goes about it quietly and with stealth. Could be a watch out.

23. Andrew Trivett 0 15/1

Has the game to win here. Does he have the stamina? Runner up in Club Champs so has pedigree. First time at TOC. Could it be a year of 1sts?

24. David Chasemore 1 50/1

I have the feeling he enjoys the after hours activities a bit to much to worry the engravers. Good to have him back though.

Notes on the betting : Callum is the Bookie

Your trip payment includes a $ 10 bet, which is assumed to be on yourself unless you nominate someone else. Betting is on a tote system, i.e., backers of the winner are paid from the total pool in proportion to their bet. If you don’t want to back yourself or you want to split your bet or have additional bets on others, see Callum to nominate your investment.
